Students of Heritage Club from Class VI to IX comprising 115 students visited the temple on 26th October 2024 (Saturday) . The students were given knowledge and education about the Heritage importance of the temple by Mr.Kamalakanan & the senior priest of the temple. The temple is located in Tharamangalam 22km from Salem city. On Stepping inside all of us felt the majestic experience with huge temple. Awestruck at the architecture, the pillars, the carvings, and the divinity is so blissful. The temple has undergone renovations but its historical roots remain untouched. This is a west facing temple. It is noteworthy that the rays of Sun fall on the horns of Nandhi on 9, 10 and 11 of Masi month (February – March) and reflects on the Lord as a Crescent Moon. The pillars are grandeur. The sculptures carved out of stones are symbols of precision. The prayers are done with utmost divinity and instill a sense of inner peace and spirituality that is soothing.
Highlights of Heritage site “Kailasanathar Temple” The temple belongs to 13th century speaking the volumes of the temple architectural skill of Tamilnadu The sculptures of Rathi and Manmadha are designed with rare skill that both are viewable from any one end. Stone Chain, Stone Lotus, a Lion are aesthetically finished representing the rare skill of the sculptors. A stone called Pavalakkal and Pattiakal ever cool in nature is at the entrance of the temple. Very important shrine of the temple is the Padala Linga in the underground room where even air can’t enter. Devotees pray to Lord Jureswara appearing with three heads and three lags for cure from high fever and prolonged diseases.
