On Saturday, 11th January 2025, the Thiruvembavai Recitation Competition was held at the Sri Vasavi Subhiksha Hall, an event that brought together young minds to celebrate the devotional poetry of Tamil literature. This competition, provided a platform for students to showcase their talent in reciting Thiruvembavai, a revered Tamil devotional song composed by the great poet-saint Manickavasagar.
Thiruvembavai is a collection of 30 verses that express the deep devotion of a young girl to Lord Shiva. Composed during the auspicious Tamil month of Margazhi, these verses evoke the longing for divine grace, with an emphasis on the beauty of Shiva’s attributes and the spiritual journey of the devotee. Reciting these verses not only showcases one’s talent in memorization but also celebrates the profound spiritual and cultural significance embedded in the poem.
Our students from Classes 3 to 5 participated enthusiastically in this cultural event. Among the participants, Selvan J. Sankarasaran of Class 5-A delivered an outstanding performance and was awarded a Special Prize for his exceptional recitation of Thiruvembavai. His flawless rendition of the verses demonstrated both his dedication and his deep connection with the poem's spiritual essence.
We are proud of our students for their exemplary representation of our school at this cultural event, and we congratulate Selvan J. Sankarasaran for his well-deserved recognition. His achievement is a testament to his dedication to both the art of recitation and the spiritual depth of Thiruvembavai.
